LEARNING AT H.I.S

Our curriculum is a blend of Ghana Education Service and the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a primary focus on the Primary Years Programme (PYP). We are currently working towards becoming a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).

Our classes run from Pre-Nursery to Grade 6 for ages 18months to 12years. The Pre-School session which comprises of Pre-Nursery to Upper Kindergarten Learners will begin their early childhood learning using the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. This program will be maintained through to Grade 6 at a higher level of learning. We will ensure that curriculum contents are age-appropriate for all classes.

Our Teaching and Learning approaches are concept-driven, inquiry-led and research-based. Our goal is to provide learners around the world with programmes that are significant, relevant, engaging and challenging, using local and global contents. We also aim to provide an environment for students to become self-motivated and confident individuals.

The Primary Years Programme: Preparing students to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning

Our curriculum is a blend of GES (Ghana Education Service) and International Baccalaureate (IB) with a focus on their Early Childhood and Primary Years Program (PYP). GES curriculum is used for those who require a transition from that background to the IB based curriculum.

We are a candidate School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) and are incorporating their Primary Years Program (PYP). Our curriculum is not only based on academics but is also focused towards developing the unique talent/s of each individual.

What is the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)?

The PYP is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on the development of the child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is a framework guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subjects’ areas, as well as trans-displinary skills, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry.

The PYP is flexible enough to accommodate the demands of most national or local curriculums and provides the best preparation for students to engage in the IB Middle Years Programme.

The six subject areas identified within the IB Primary Years Programme:
